The Pomonan Projects Jacky Elizalde Will Win Pomona’s District 2 Council Race

Jacky Elizalde is on track to win Pomona’s District 2 City Council race. In Los Angeles County’s November 6 update at 9:24 a.m., Elizalde had 1,871 votes (53.73%) to incumbent Victor Preciado’s 1,611 (46.27%), a lead of 260 votes.

The last three updates added 275, then 218, then 99 votes to the District 2 count. Elizalde’s lead grew in each update, from 212 to 233 to 249 to 260. In the latest batch, she picked up 55 votes to Preciado’s 44.

Preciado now needs 260 more votes than Elizalde in the remaining count to tie and 261 more to pull ahead. The county has not said how many District 2 ballots remain, and smaller updates don’t tell us how many are left. But so far, the additional ballots have widened the gap he needs to close. The results remain unofficial.

The county’s published tally does not show how many District 2 ballots remain.
