The Pomonan is an independent publication of essays, criticism, photography, and cultural commentary.

Founded in Pomona, California, The Pomonan explores power, culture, memory, language, art, and the forces that shape everyday life. Through essays, criticism, photography, and visual storytelling, we examine communities, institutions, ideas, and the contradictions that define contemporary experience.

Rooted in Southern California, The Pomonan publishes work that moves between local and global concerns, connecting questions of place, identity, creativity, public life, and social change. Our work is guided by the belief that culture is not separate from politics, history, or daily life, but woven into each of them.

Established in 2018 and relaunched in 2020, The Pomonan publishes work across journalism, photography, criticism, literature, and visual culture.
