Rooted in Southern California, The Pomonan publishes work that moves between local and global concerns, connecting questions of place, identity, creativity, public life, and social change.

Pomona is our point of departure, not our boundary. The Pomonan publishes local reporting alongside essays, criticism, photography, literature, and cultural work that engage ideas and subjects far beyond the city itself.

Our work is guided by curiosity, independence and a willingness to question the people and institutions holding power. We are not here to manufacture feel good stories, polish political reputations or treat ribbon cuttings and photo ops as accountability. We follow the paperwork and report what other outlets overlook. Sometimes the public record is negative. Sorry, not sorry.
