Congresswoman Norma Torres

Inland Empire Activists to Highlight Norma Torres’ Support for Funding Genocide and Starvation in Gaza

This Friday, July 25th, a ‘banging of the empty pots and pans’ demonstration will take place in the Inland Empire to draw attention to Congress member Norma Torres’ ongoing support for billions in taxpayer funding for Israel as it continues to bomb schools, hospitals, and refugee camps, all while STARVING an entire population that is unable to escape.

The protest will begin at and outside Norma Torres's office in Ontario at 10am pst.

Bisan Owda, a Palestinian journalist and activist from Gaza, has been vocal about the deepening hunger crisis in the territory and has launched the "Stop the Famine" campaign to bring international attention to the dire issue.

Specifically, Owda is calling for global days of action on July 24 & 25, 2025, urging people to "Bang the Pots" and protest Israel's blockade of humanitarian aid and the resulting starvation in Gaza.

Owda emphasizes that the current aid efforts, including airdrops, are insufficient and ineffective, She argues the true solution lies in pressuring Israel to lift the blockade and allow aid trucks to enter Gaza freely.

Additionally, the protest is to put additional pressure on Norma Torres to take concrete steps in ending the genocide by supporting resolutions to block the sale of offensive weaponry to Israel (HR3565). We call for the urgent delivery of aid to Gaza and work to ensure it safely reaches Palestinian civilians - not through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation which is directly responsible for the deaths of over 1000 Palestinians seeking aid. We also urge Norma Torres to condemn any plans to relocate Palestinians and other countries and so-called humanitarian zones.

Congressmember Torres has consistently voted in favor of unconditioned military aid to Israel. In April 2024, she voted yes on a $95 billion spending package that included $17 billion in military aid to Israel. Earlier, in November 2023, she voted against H.R. 6126, a resolution that would have imposed restrictions or conditions on that aid, stating, “Our aid and our commitment to Israel must be prompt, significant, and unconditioned.”
